Willow Tree Grandfather
Bridging generations with love, this carefully co-ordinated composition shows, with a simple clasping of the hands, the connection between grandfather and grandson. Designed by Susan Lordi, Demdaco Willow Tree ® figurines make inspirational collectables or gift ideas.

Launched at the start of the millennium, Willow Tree ® has grown in popularity as an intimate and highly personal range that gives voice to the qualities that make us all feel close. Each face is a blank canvass on which the beholder can project their own view, and each figure so iconic as to draw a sympathetic eye, time after time. As Susan Lordi said on the Demdaco website, "I try to keep the interpretation of Willow Tree ® open. I hope this makes it more personal, and allows the viewer to decide its meaning."

The willow was chosen to symbolise that which is gestural and beckoning, with figures often holding natural objects or animals as metaphors for human virtues and characteristics, such as flowers for beauty. Susan Lordi said on her own website, "The name Willow Tree ® directly reflects my love and reverance of trees, their graceful, columnar, beckoning, magical qualities. Trees are anthropomorphic. They change, grow, whisper. They have so much character and gesture."
