This sixteenth-centuary former manor house was actually home to Cecil Torr, the influential writer, who lovingly restored its straw thatch, roughcast walls and impressive two-storeyed, jettied porch during the early twentieth century. The significance of the date (1680) replicated on the model is uncertain, but is believed to refer to either a date of alteration or change of lease at that time.
